In order to determine draw and feed-in, grid operators install a bidirectional meter after installing a photovoltaic system. Sometimes customers already have this.

The bidirectional meter has two separate registers combined in one meter box. You can easily tell if your electricity meter is a bidirectional meter by looking at two arrows pointing in opposite directions:


Alternatively, you can recognize the bidirectional meter by the designation 1.8.0 (power draw) and 2.8.0 (power feed):


The latter might also not be printed "on" the meter but shown on the digital monitor where it shows the actual numbers.
